It’s never TOO late!
I have taught adult beginners of all background and professions from Ophthalmic Eye Surgeon, to English Professor, to Lawyer and post Second-World War Senior of which some are adult beginners and returners. Here are some of my approaches at Kim Chang Piano Studio in Edmonton:
- I use older beginners’ series and resources specifically catered for older beginners
- Scales, techniques, sight reading, aural and musicianship are also introduced to develop a well-rounded musician
- Returners may be given a variety of learning resources, generally starting off with materials where they left off and work up to their standard. Fresh repertoires are also considered at 1-2 levels above their current standard.
- I also assign quick study at home on a regular basis and conduct discussions during the lesson.
